Brackets, covers, pulleys, sensors, and the dozens of engine components that fail one at a time as miles pile up. For most of these, used OEM is functionally identical to new — it's a bracket, a shield, or a housing, and the factory part fits exactly the way the engineers designed it.

What to check: compare part numbers with what came off your engine, and inspect for cracks, stripped threads, or heat damage. For sensors and electrical components, buy from tested donors.
