How to Remove the Rear View Mirror in a 2014–2017 Honda Odyssey

Today we're showing you how to remove this mirror from this 2014 Honda Odyssey. First, pull this channel panel out. Pop the shroud and slide that down. Then we've got a plug in here — press the clip and pull. And then we've got a Torx screw — that's a T-20 — and then slip that off, and the mirror's removed. Here's exactly how we pull them when we're getting mirrors ready for the store.

What you'll need

  • An impact driver with a T-20 Torx bit
  • That's it for tools — the shroud pops off by hand (we wear work gloves)

Step 1: Pull the channel panel out and slide the shroud down

First, pull this channel panel out. Pop the shroud and slide that down. It comes off by hand and exposes the mirror mount and the wiring underneath.

Step 2: Press the clip and unplug the connector

Then we've got a plug in here — press the clip and pull. Press the tab on the wiring connector at the back of the mirror and pull it apart. Don't pull on the wires themselves.

Step 3: Drive out the T-20 Torx screw

And then we've got a Torx screw — that's a T-20. Drive out the mount screw with your impact driver.

Step 4: Slip the mirror off the bracket

And then slip that off, and the mirror's removed. Slip the mirror off the mount bracket.

Step 5: The mirror is out

That's the whole job. The mount area is left clear with just the wiring behind it. Installation is these steps in reverse.

What to check on the replacement

  • Options: match your mirror — auto-dim, compass, and Homelink buttons are different units, so get the same setup.
  • Glass: check the glass for delamination around the edges, which shows as a dark or rainbow ring.
  • Shroud: make sure the plastic mounting shroud is included — it's easy to lose and your headliner looks unfinished without it.
  • Pigtail: check the wiring connector and pigtail are intact.
