How to Remove the A-Pillar Windshield Trim in a 2004–2008 Ford F-150
Share
I'm gonna show you how to remove this A-pillar trim from this '05 F-150 — same setup across the 2004–2008 trucks. First thing, we got this slim pry tool: stick it in there, pop this cap out, pop this bottom cap out. Then you got two 7 millimeter bolts at the bottom — take those out and she's removed.
What you'll need
- A slim pry tool
- An impact driver with a 7mm socket
- Gloves
Step 1: Pop the bottom cap out with the slim pry tool
First thing, grab the slim pry tool. Stick it in at the bottom of the A-pillar trim and pop this cap out — pop this bottom cap out. It's covering the mounting bolts.

Step 2: Take out the two 7mm bolts underneath
With the cap out, you've got two 7 millimeter bolts at the bottom of the trim. Take the bolts out of there with the impact driver.

Step 3: Pull the trim off the pillar
Grab the trim and pull it firmly away from the windshield pillar. It's held by clips along its length, so a steady pull pops them loose — work from one end toward the other.

Step 4: The trim is out
And she's removed. Flip the trim over and check the backside — the clips and mounting points are what you want intact. Installation is these steps in reverse.

What to check on the replacement
- Clips and tabs: check every clip and mounting tab on the backside — broken tabs mean the trim won't sit tight against the pillar.
- Cracks: look along the length of the trim for stress cracks, especially near the top and bottom mounting points.
- Interior color match: these trims came in different interior colors, so match yours before you buy.
