How to Remove a Honda Odyssey Sun Visor

Whether your Honda Odyssey's sun visor is sagging, the mirror cover is broken, or the vanity light quit working, you don't need a shop to get it out. There's no cover to pop and no screws to remove — the visor is held by a single spring clip inside the mount. The whole job takes about five minutes and one small tool. Here's exactly how we do it when we're pulling visors for the store.

What you'll need

  • A small flathead screwdriver or pick tool
  • That's it

Step 1: Swing the visor down and find the hole

Swing the visor down. Look at the mounting bracket where it meets the headliner — you'll see a small hole in the mount. That's the release for the retaining clip inside.

Step 2: Stick the screwdriver in the hole and press the clip in

Push your screwdriver or pick straight into the hole and press the retaining clip inward. Keep pressure on it — the clip has to stay pressed in for the next step.

Step 3: Twist the visor to release it

While holding the clip pressed in, twist the visor. It swings past the clip's secure point and lets loose from the mount — that's the whole trick.

Step 4: Unplug the wiring connector

Don't yank the visor free yet — there's a wiring harness plugged into it that feeds the vanity mirror light. Squeeze the tab on the connector and pull it apart.

Step 5: Remove the visor

With the connector unplugged, lift the visor out. Installation is just these steps in reverse — twist it back into the mount until the clip clicks.

What to check on the replacement

  • Color: Odyssey visors came in gray and tan — match your headliner.
  • Side: driver and passenger visors are different parts.
  • Vanity light: if yours has the lighted mirror, the replacement needs the wiring pigtail too.
